I strive to create a safe, open, and warm atmosphere where individuals can explore their primary interests, develop goals and identify strengths.

Using a variety of approaches including mindfulness, person-centered, strengths based, cognitive behavioral therapy, and structural therapy techniques we work towards positive mental well-being. I am passionate about helping individuals, families, and relationships of any kind to reconnect and view the counseling process as an alliance between the client and therapist. I consider the client as the experts of their lives and I am here as a guide to help navigate through the process.

My experience is the areas of anxiety, depression, behavioral interventions, family conflict, self esteem, life transitions and relational problems. Although the journey to mental and emotional wellness may be challenging and uncomfortable, there is peace and joy on the other side of the challenge and I believe this can be the experience for all individuals. I believe that everyone has the ability to learn, grow and improve their mental and emotional health. Each person's growth will occur at different rates but there are still opportunities for growth. Life's ups and downs have helped me to see that some level of joy and gratitude can be found in every experience and I always look forward to finding the opportunity to help others work towards positive mental well-being and developing the skills to cope with life's challenges.

One of the reasons that drives my passion working at Insight Northwest Recovery is the philosophy that each person’s treatment is unique to their experiences along with my desire to be a part of the healing process to recovery and positive mental well-being. I have a personal and deep understanding of the effects mental illness and addictions have on the family, the community and the world around all of us. I have observed the power of connections and support on the individual who is making their way through recovery, healing and long-term sobriety. I believe that there is hope for anyone struggling with addiction and that healing and recovery can happen with support and encouragement. The journey is different for each person and Insight Northwest Recovery’s approach is tailored to that. I have a strong desire to be a part of your walk through the process.

One of my interests outside of the counseling room is traveling the world and exploring new environments. I love to stroll along the streets, observing the houses and buildings as well as stopping into the shops for fresh bakery items, coffee and smoothies. I enjoy reading and learning new crafts, listening to throwback music from the 80's-90's and shopping for shoes!

Professional Background

My professional career in the mental health field began with my work in residential community homes with individuals newly released from mental health facilities being integrated into the community. I have continued to work in the mental health field as a residential program director for several years, and then as a teacher for 13 years in primarily self-contained classrooms with students experiencing behavioral and emotional challenges. I am also a military veteran, who served in the Army as a Casualty and Mortuary Affairs Specialist In Arlington, VA. I later went on to complete a nursing program and spent several years working as a behavioral health nurse in the community and at behavioral health hospitals. Over the past several years, I have worked as an outpatient therapist and as an addictions counselor in a PHP program.
